Jewelry Care

Metals
A basic rule of thumb is to avoid unnecessary light. If your're not using your jewelry just store it in a box, away from humidity! But why should you even think about that, your'e always wearing your jewelry anyways ;) ! Also, avoid water at all cost unless your planning on drying it right away, better safe than wet!
Avoid chemicals as perfume or cream directly on the jewelry.

Stones
Certain stones are more fragile than others, like moonstones and Turquoises. Moonstone is a soft stone and crack easily. To avoid cracking, don't do physical work with your jewelry, it is better to remove it and store it. For turquoise stone, it can discoloured with high heat or contact with chemicals (cleaning products, perfumes, etc) It is safe to clean both in soapy warm water!

PEARLS
Precautions

When it comes to pearls, prevention is key. Once your pearls are damaged, it is impossible to restore them. Be aware that your pearls are made up of organic materials and therefore sensitive to chemicals that can alter their surface and make their luster dull and matte. It is therefore necessary to avoid all contact with beauty products, perfume, hairspray, chlorine (we therefore avoid the swimming pool with its pearls) and other chemical products. So get into the habit of wearing your jewelry after you've finished washing. Also pay attention to household products as well as heat sources that can dry out your pearls.

CARE

We can never repeat it enough, the best way to keep your radiant pearls is to simply wear them. The pearl must maintain a humidity level above 4% to stay healthy. The moisture from your skin will help nourish your pearls. These will be grateful to you for wearing them. Be careful, however, in hot weather, because if you sweat profusely, you will need to pay particular attention to the maintenance of your pearls. The same attention should be paid if your skin is very acidic.

It is recommended to clean them regularly with a soft, damp cloth before storing them. This will remove any chemicals and perspiration that may have stuck to the surface and damaged the beads. Take the time to thoroughly clean each of the pearls, paying attention to the less accessible places. Then let your jewelry dry flat before storing.

Be careful not to rub the pearls! Remember that you only want to remove surface contaminants, not polish them. Never use brushes or accessories designed to clean metal jewelry. You should never attempt to clean your pearls in an ultrasonic cleaner or use silver or gold cleaning fluids as this will permanently damage them.

A natural ally

You can use a few drops of olive oil on a soft cloth to clean your pearls occasionally. In small quantities, olive oil will enhance the luster of your pearls without damaging them. This will enhance the luster of the pearls and maximize their shine. Again, only use a little oil and be sure to let the jewelry dry flat before storing. This method can be used once every two years or so.

Storage

It is advisable to keep your pearls in a case or in a soft fabric. Take care to avoid contact with your other jewelry. Unfortunately in terms of hardness, the mother-of-pearl of your pearls is no match for the metals and other stones of your jewelry. To avoid scratches or scuffs on your pearls, store them in their case or a pouch of soft fabrics. It is important to know that there is no "method" to repair a damaged pearl.

We strongly advise you not to leave pearls in safety deposit boxes at the bank. Exposing your pearls for long periods of time to a very dry atmosphere will cause their moisture levels to drop, which can cause your pearls to crack, crack or peel in the long run.

Silk
We recommend that you wear your pearls regularly to help them maintain their beauty, while of course enhancing your own. However, wearing a pearl necklace regularly will eventually wear out the silk thread holding the pearls.

To avoid any breakage of the silk thread, it is recommended to have it examined annually by an expert (jeweler) . If necessary, you can wind your pearls on a new silk thread to ensure optimal resistance.

You may have heard that you should never take a shower with a pearl necklace on. Other than chemicals and soaps that can damage the mother of pearl,  water in large amounts that could damage the floss binding your pearls together. Once wet, silk can stretch if subjected to weight. In the event that your pearl necklace is soaked, it is therefore imperative to let it dry flat, so that the weight of the pearls does not stretch the silk thread.

Raffia
Treat it as paper, because it is made of it. Paper hates water so does your beautiful earrings! Ideally stored in a dry place and it's original box to keep it's shape (not in the bottom of a purse ;) ). But again, we don't want to see those bad boys crying all alone on your dresser, we want to see them dangling on your earlobes!

Maintenance
Sterling silver tarnishes. It will come to a point that maybe you'll want that mirror shiny look again and that, you can do my friend! For the real dirty stuff, do a first clean with a cotton ball (anything cotton-based) and some hand sanitizer, get that dirt off! You can also use a polishing cloth or a gentle silver polishing cream using a sponge. Once that's done, make sure you rinse that cream off with warm water (it's easier to evaporate) and dry it right away with a dry towel!

Brass metal tarnishes faster than sterling silver, that is why it needs extra care. To remove the tarnish, make a paste with baking soda and lemon juice, scrub the jewelry with your fingers. Let it sit for 10 minutes.
Another easy way is to put the jewelry in Ketchup!!! Yes ketchup, with a bit of water, let it sit for 20 min and rinse with warm soapy water and dry well.
